Annual Meeting Of Church Council
(N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 14. About 80 attended the annual meeting in Wellington today of the Catholic Education Council in New Zealand. Representatives of the heirachy of the church present were Archbishop P. T. D McKeefry, Archbishop J. M Liston (Auckland!, Bishop E. M. Joyce (Christchurch), Bishop J. P. Kavanagh (Dunedin) and Bishop R. Delargey (coadjutor Bishop of Auckland) .
The council, which is composed of all the religious orders and congregations engaged in educational work as well as lay organisations interested in education, was presided over by Bishop Kavanagh. Discussion of constitutional business occupied the morning session. This afternoon the council was addressed by Mr Athol Rafter, director of nuclear research m New Zealand. whose subject was “The Place of Science in Secondary Schools.” Two new members elected to the executive were Mr A. J. Dowling (Dunedin), and Mr R. Hubbard (Auckland).
