ABDUCTION CHARGE
Imprisonment For Six Months
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON N.. May 14. “You have been found guilty of a very shameful offence, which, although described as abduction, could more appropriately be termed enticing tor prostitution," Mr Justice Leicester told Vaughan Thomas Nelson Lane, a 19-year-old slaughterman, in the Supreme Court. Palmerston North, on Friday. He sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment on a charge of abducting a girl under 18 years with intent to cause her to be carnally known. Lane was found guilty of this charge and acquitted of a charge of abducting the girl with intent to carnally know her himself, by a jury last Friday. The offences related to the activities of a 15*4-year-old girl in a hut at Longburn in January.
