TOTA’S OWNER APPEALS

Mr N. H. Macdonald, owner-trainer of Topa, has appealed against a decision of the judicial committee of the Nelson Jockey Club after an inquiry into the Mo’ueka Champion Hack Handicap, run at Nelson on April 22. The appeal will be heard In Wellington on Wednesday morning. Topa was runner-up to Munster King in the race. Munster King hung on under pressure in the last furlong and crowded Topa and Last Link. The committee, after an hour-long hearing, found J. H Jones, the rider of Munster King, guilty of careless riding and suspended him for three weeks, but derided not to disturb the judge’s placing*.
