NATIONS “TIED”

Commonwealth Bonds

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 14. The British Commonwealth of Nations was tied together in every respect, the newlyappointed Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations in London (Sir Saville Garner), said in Wellington today. Sir Saville Garner, who is at present the United Kingdom High Commissioner in Canada, is nearing the end of a tour of Commonwealth countries before taking up his new position later this year. He will fly to Canada on Thursday after a New Zealand tour. Sir Saville Garner arrived in Wellington yesterday morning from Auckland, and spent the week-end as the guest of the United Kingdom High Commissioner in New Zealand (Sir Frances Cum-ing-Bruce). Sir Saville Garner said he would not have accepted the position of under-secretary if he did not feel there was a strong bond between British Commonwealth nations. New Zealand, he said, was xery much like Britain in many ways but had more the feeling and atmosphere of it than the scenery.
