RUNANGA MINES

Work Today “As Usual”

(N.Z. Press Association) GREYMOUTH, May 14. The Runanga State Miners’ Union members will work as usual tomorrow. A special general meeting of the union was called this morning, and, after it. the secretary (Mr N. H. Leech) said: “Work will start on the dogwatch tonight and there will be work tomorrow.” He declined to elaborate on the meeting. On Friday a “bitter complaint" was made by the Minister of Mines (Mr Shand) at a proposal to hold the union’s annual meeting tomorrow, which would result in a stoppage at both the Strongman and Liverpool mines. The president of the Federation of Labour (Mr F P. Walsh) had urged the union, in a telegram on Friday, to hold the annual meeting on a non-working day.
