POWER FAILURE FOR 90 MINUTES

Cable Breakdown In St. Martins

Two areas of' St. Martins were without power for about 90 minutes from 11.45 a.m. yesterday when a cable broke down in Wilsons road at the bridge. Power was restored, and the trouble will' be rectified as soon as the weather improves. The heavy rain yesterday and on Thursday night caused little damage to Municipal Electricity Department installations, but workmen had to be called out to repair trenches that had sunk in Gloucester street. Filling in the trenches dug recently to hold the underground wiring sank four or five inches in places, and had to be replaced. Trenches that had been packed with the department's new tamping machine were not affected as much.
