Veterans' Federation Membership Questions
(From Out Own Reporter)
WELLINGTON, May 12
The wisdom of New Zealand’s membership of the World Veterans’ Federation is being challenged by some members of the New Zealand Returned Servicemen's Association. and notably by the Gallipoli Veterans’ Association.
After the report that the president of the R.S A. (Mr K. W. Fraser) and a member of its executive council 'Mr S T. Russell) would attend the ninth general assembly of the World Veterans' Association in Paris from May 8 to May 12. the Gallipoli Veterans’ Association has.addressed several questions to the R.S A. “on behalf of many New Zealand war veterans who are in straitened circumstances.” The questions are: (1) How much of RS A funds for the double return air trip to Paris, plus other expenses, will be used? (2) What benefit do New Zealanders who fought for their country obtain from this expensive trip, which
appears to be an annual affair? (3) What annual subscription to the World Veterans’ Federation does the N.Z R.S.A. pay? (4) Why have the Returned Servicemen’s League of Australia and other British former service organisations rejected appeals to join the World Veterans' Federation, which is of foreign origin?
