AMBUSH IN LONDON

Police Catcfi Bandits

(Special Cr.wdt N Z.P.A.) LONDON, May 12.

Police and five masked bandits clashed yesterday when the bandits were ambushed while trying to rob a mail van.

The van was carrying registered mail and large sums of money—£2o.ooo, according to the "Daily Express."

After fighting the police with coshes, the men dashed to a getaway van and sped off through West End streets with two private cars—one of them driven by a woman—in hot pursuit. Police cars joined in the hunt, and the bandits van was later found abandoned. Three men were arrested and charged with attempted robbery.
