HEADMASTER OF ST. PETER'S
Mr D. J. Thornton's Appointment
Mr D. J. Thornton, of Christ’s College, has been appointed headmaster of St. Peter’s School, Cambridge. Mr Thornton is 35. married, with two young daughters. He has been housemaster of Jacobs House. Christ’s College. for five years. He is the youngest man to have held that position. Mr Thornton took a master of arts degree at Victoria University College with firstclass honours in French. He taught at King’s College. Auckland, and in the United Kingdom, before he was appointed to Christ’s College. At St. Peter's School he succeeds the Rev. D. A. Cowell, who has become vicar of St. Paul’s, Putaruru. He will take up his new duties at the beginning of the third term.
