Hastings service station to , return it for testing before use. The Hastings firm sus--1 pected that its supplv of s kerosene had been contamr inated with petrol and might ’ be dangerous, said the manti ager, Mr A. D. Mackenzie. A check on sales since the tank was refilled yesterday .. showed that one four-gallon r and one two-gallon lot had I been sold. e The buyer of the four-gal-lon lot returned it to the service station where it was tested and found to be not .’ dangerous. The purchaser p of the two-gallon lot had not been traced today. s “There is every likelihood that the two-gallon purchase e is quite as pure as the other, e but it is safest to check s first." said Mr Mackenz'e. The Napier superintendent f of the oil company that had n supplied the kerosene conf firmed that both his company I. and the service station had a issued the warning as a safety measure.
