Boxing TOUR BY JOE LOUIS
Difficulty Over Funds (NZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 11. Difficulty in obtaining a Reserve Bank permit to take funds out of New Zealand may yet force the cancellation of the proposed New Zealand tour by Joe Louis, said the tour promoter, Mr J. J. Howard, today. “Full contracts have been signed with Louis and several others,” said Mr Howard. “and halls booked throughout New Zealand, and it would be most regretable if the tour has to be cancelled at this stage. ‘‘American entertainers have taken out as much in one day as Louis will take in a week,” he said. 'The refusal of a permit was most unexpected, but we are still hoping one will be granted.” Louis is scheduled to arrive in Auckland on June 22, and stay in New Zealand for 10 days.
