Lecture Given On Civil Defence Civil defence, the technical staffing position and future policy regarding poliomyelitis and tuberculosis were among the subjects discussed yesterday in Christchurch at the bi-annual conference of medical officers of health, which ended in the afternoon.

Lectures on civil defence were given by the civil defence commissioners for the southern region (Brigadier J. T. Burrows) and for the northern regiota (Captain L. P. Bourke. R.N.) The ways in which medical officers of health and district Health Department technical staff might co-operate in civil defence plans of local authorities were discussed. An explanation of local authority arrangements and committees was also given.
