Five To Go To Hawaii

WELLINGTON. May 11.
Five New Zealand Army officers will serve in Hawaii with the United States Army of the Pacific on an exchange basis for one month from May 16. the Minister of Defence (Mr Eyre) announced today.
They will be the third party of New Zealand officers to train in Hawaii. Representing five different corps of the Army, the New Zealanders will be attached to specialist units in Hawaii similar to their own. In return. a party of American officers from the United States Army of the Pacific will serve in New Zealand during the same period.
The exchqnge is part of a scheme designed to further mutual understanding of military problems between the two armies which could be called on to serve together under international agreements. The scheme is also operated between the United States Army and the Australian Army. New Zealand officers selected for this year’s course are: Lieutenant Colonel L. A, Kermode. New Zealand Regiment deputy quartermaster general at Army headquarters; Lieuten-ant-Colonel J. R. Spence, R.N.Z.A., who is camp commandant at Papakura and also commands the 16th Field Regiment, RNZ.A.; Major W. G. Dixon, R N.Z.A.0.C., of Army headquarters: Major G. W. Stanley, R N.Z.A.M.C., Army headquarters; and Major J. R. Clarke, R.N.Z. Sigs., of the Army Schools, Waiouru.
