The Cuban Prime Minister. Dr. Fidel Castro, and General Rafael Trujillo of the Dominican Republic have agreed to call off their underground Caribbean war. according to the New York "Herald Tribune." The two Caribbean dictators had agreed to sign a non-aggression pact in the face of rising pressure from the United States and other American Republics, the newspaper said. This pact succeeded a temporary treaty arranged earlier this year. the "Herald Tribune” said. It based its Siory on “reliable reports” from Havana. Ciudad Trujillo and Washington.
The "Herald Tribune” said that, until recently, "Socialist Castro” and "Fascist Trujillo" were bitter enemies and constantly plotted each other’s downfall. Now, the oldest and newest dictators in the hemisphere were arguing only about which established a Socialist state first. The liaison of convenience was arranged in order to allow the two political leaders to meet better their common enemies. the “Herald Tribune” said.
