Unable To Play For Province

WELLINGTON, May 10 Some players selected for the New Zealand socceteam to meet the touring English side will be unabli to represent their provinces against the tourists.
Players taking part in the first Test on Monday, June 5, at Wellington, are required to assemble in Wellington on Thursday, June 1. Thur Canterbury players in the New Zealand side who would have played in the Canter-bury-England match a’ Christchurch on June 3 wil' not be available to represen their province. They will be required in Wellington with the New Zealand team. Otago players will not be affected in this way. because Otago meets the tourists the day before the team’s New Zealand representatives are reouired in Wellington. Otago and Wellington, olayers in the Test squad however, will not be available for the Otago-Welling, ton match on June 3.
Minor Fires.— No damage was caused to the premises of Coulters, Ltd., 158 Tuam street, when rubbish caught fire at 9.43 a.m. yesterday One unit from the Central station attended. One unit from Woolston attended a chimney fire at 111 Pages road, occupied by Mr D. Carson, at 6 p.m. yesterday. No damage was reported.
