Olympic Date Criticised
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. May 10. The secretary of the Australian Olympic Federation (Mr E. Tanner) yesterday criticised the choice of the month of October for the Tokyo Olympics. Mr Tanner suggested thai the choice tended to favour countries in the Northern Hemisphere. “Even the Melbourne Olympics in 1956 took place in November,” he said. The Japanese choice of October will be discussed by an international conference of Olympic delegate l in Athens next month. “The conference is not likely, however, to suggest any change,” said Mr Tanner.
