TRESPASSING NOTICE

Technical Board’s Decision

A notice warning that trespassers will be prosecuted is to be erected at the Ensors road playing fields of the Christchurch Technical College, it was decided at a meeting of the board of managers of the college on Monday. The pavilion at the playing fields was broken into on Sunday afternoon, 16. A Sunday afternoon. April 16. A plate-glass window valued at £6 and a smaller one upstairs were broken. “It is not closed to the public on Sundays?” asked Mr F. H. Dephoff. “Is it not closed to the park,” said the principal (Mr D. W. Lyall). Mr Dephoff suggested that a notice be erected saying that trespassers will be prosecuted. “Will it keep out the type of persons who do the damage?” asked the chairman (Mr R. Jones). Mr Dephoff moved that a notice with the wording, “trespassers will be prosecuted,” should be erected The motion was carried. “Do we mean to find and prosecute the persons who trepass,” asked Mr Lyall. He said that there were many persons who went into the grounds to watch games. The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) asked for the motion to be recommitted so that the wording could be changed but this lapsed for want of a seconder.
