Prams For Karitane?

Sir, —I was recently told by a young Karitane nurse of the great shortage of prams and pushchairs at the Christchurch Karitane Hospital. I have often noticed the nurses taking the babies for their walks along Ashgrove terrace and Cashmere road, and have seen for myself the old, battered, unlovely ’ prams they push. It is, I believe, not Karitane policy to make any direct appeal to the public for the wonderful services it renders; therefore, I would like to make this state of affairs known to your readers, as there must be dozens of unwanted prams, gathering dust in Christchurch basements, which could be brought out into the light and given to make both nurses and infants a great deal happier —Yours, etc. PRAM-PUSHER. May 8, 1961.
