Swimming OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST
John Konrads To Go To U.S.
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) SYDNEY, May 9. The Olympic gold medallist swimmer, John Konrads will enter an American university this year. He will take an arts course at the University of Southern California, where M. Rose, his Olympic team mate, is studying. Konrads, who is 20 this month, will leave Australia in time to start his first-year studies in September. His university programme almost certainly means that he will not swim for Australia in the Empire Games at Perth next year. It is understood that Usa, his sister, also may go to America. In the Rome Olympics last year he captured the 1500 metres title and finished third to Rose in the 400 metres event.
