COMMONWEALTH TRADE
Importance To U.K. Stressed
(N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, May 8 It was unwise to underestimate the importance of Commonwealth trade to Britain, said the President of Britain’s Board of Trade (Mr Reginald Maudlingi today. The world would be a much poorer place if the cooperation of the Commonwealth nations were to be weakened, he told delegates from 18 countries at the opening of a three-day conference organised by the Incorporated Sales Managers' Association. “I think it is fashionable
sometimes nowadays to write down its importance to this country,” he said. “If it is fashionable I think it is unwise. The strength of the Commonwealth as a political system owes a great deal to the trading arrangements which exist between us.”
