Keen Demand For Store Hoggets

"The Press” Special Service TIMARU, May 9. There was a large yarding of fat sheep at today’s Pleasant Point stock sale. Competition was firm from exporters and butchers , values in general showing little change on late rates. There was also a large yarding of store sheep, which included several pens of quality wether and ewe hoggets. The demand in this section was very keen and an excellent sale resulted. Fat cattle were not offered in quotable numbers. Range of Values Fat Sheep.—Prime wethers. 72s Id to 82s Id; medium wethers, to 66s lOd; prime ewes. 34s Id to 37s Id; light to medium ewes, 20s Id to 30s Id. Store Sheep.—Ewe hoggets (woolly), 53s to 68s; (shorn), 37s 6d to 465; wether lambs (woolly), 26s to 445; (shorn), 20s to 395; two-tooth wethers. 57s to 675: race ewes. 15s to 225; full-mouth ewes. 35s to 50s.
