“Cease-Fire Not General”

(N Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright» WASHINGTON, May 8. The United States State Department said today that cease-fire talks in Laos yesterday had been inconclusive. The Department’s official spokesman Mr Lincoln White, said that there was a ceasefire in some areas in Laos at the time of the talks but no cease-fire in other areas of the South-east Asian Kingdom. The Royal Government had agreed to attend military cease-fire talks at Ban No Mone in rebel-held territory, about 10 miles south of Vang Vieng, provided that political talks were held in Govern-ment-controlled territory.
