ROYAL TOUR

Last Day At Turin

(N Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) TURIN, May 9. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will today complete their 10 day visit to Italy, attending two exhibitions which celebrate the centenary of Italian unity. The Queen will make the third and final speech of her tour this afternoon at the Palazzo Madama, where, in 1859, King Victor Emmanuel II delivered a speech which is considered to have set off the war with Austria and brought about the unity of Italy. The Queen and Duke will leave Florence, where they have relaxed for two days as the guests of the Duke’s cousin, the former Queen Helene of Rumania, this morning. They will pay a short visit to Milan. The Queen and the Duke slipped out for two hours of quiet sightseeing in Florence yesterday, passing almost unnoticed by the crowds. They visited three museums and then went to the Palazzo Vecchio and City Hall. Few Florentines realised the Royal visitors had driven by, said the Associated Press. The British United Press said that as soon as the Royal car arrived at the San Marco

Museum, a crowd of clapping, cheering people had appeared, and cries of “Viva la Regina” were heard. British and American holidaymakers and students from the university across the square were among them.
