SOCKBURN POST OFFICE

Concern At Lack Of Progress

Concern at lack of progress in getting a post office at Sockburn was expressed by the Paparua County Council last evening. Cr. A. Fazackerley said it was two years since the Postmaster-General approved the site opposite the council chambers on the Main South road. “The site is still a vacant section,” he said. “It is about time something was done.” A letter from the department said plans had not yet been completed, but it hoped to call tenders later this year. The council will express its concern to the department and ask it to give urgent attention to the postal needs of the district.
