TWO VEHICLES COLLIDE
One Killed, 10 Injured

AUCKLAND. May 7. A man was killed and several people injured, one seriously. in a collision at the corner of Queen street and Kitchener road. Pukekohe. at 7.35 p.m. on Saturday. The dead man was:
Toroatai Ewe, aged 65. labourer, of Onewhero. near Tuakau.
Police said one otf the vehicles, a van, spun around in the middle of the road. As it turned, the doors flew open spilling people out on to the road. The seven injured were taken to Middlemore Hosnital. Oxygen was given to Mr Ewe during the journey but he died minutes after arriving at the hospital Four others were treated on the spot by local doctors. Those still in hospital tonight are:— Desmond Jones, aged 36. a Baptist Maori missioner. of Te Kohanga. head injuries, concussion and cuts, condition improving; Don Jonathan. aged 30. of Onewhero. fractured spine, condition quite satisfactory: Lois Sabrina Warbrick, aged 11, of Geraghty’s road. Tuakau, broken right arm and cuts, condition satisfactory; and Judith Taupo, aged 13. of Onewhero. broken right arm and cuts, condition quite satisfactory. Two others were treated at the hospital. They are Miss S. Fon, of Wood street. Palmerston North, and Kuru Hori, of Geraghty’# road, Tuakau.
