Cyclists Injured
Two cyclists were admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital last evening after they had been involved in collisions with cars. Cornelius Arie Gorzeman, of 79 Bishop street, suffered head injuries at the intersection of Peterborough and Madras streets about 5.13 p.m. His condition late last evening was reported as satisfactory. John Patrick Mather, of 103 St. James avenue, a seniorsergeant at the Christchurch Central Police Station, suffered head injuries in Harper avenue about 6.15 p.m. He was crossing Harper avenue to Little Hagley Park. Senior-Sergeant Mather’s condition late last evening was reported as satisfactory. Car Lights At Funerals.— The use of parking lights on cars in a funeral cortege -will be tried, and suitable publicity given the innovation, after a decision of the New Zealand Road Safety Council on Thursday. The New Zealand Federation of Funeral Directors has agreed in principle with the suggestion.— (P.A.)
