MENTAL HEALTH PROPOSAL
“Beauty Parlour” Therapy
“Beauty parlours” for mental hospital patients have been proposed by the welfare sub-committee of the Canterbury Mental Health Association. The committee is trying to get financial help “for extending facilities of this type,” says the association’s annual report. "Reports from overseas indicate that considerable benefit has resulted to patients who have access to beauty parlours,” the report says “Some progress has been made in collecting funds, but the project is still in the exploratory stage. “There is a need for accommodation in suitable homes for former patients .as temporary boarders until they are sufficiently rehabilitated and established ' in their work. The committee would welcome offers of assistance in this respect.”
