FOOT-AND-MOUTH VACCINE

The British Government is giving £lOO.OOO to enable a pharmaceutical firm to produce a vaccine for foot-and-mouth disease on a commercial scale for sale abroad. Announcing this in the House of Commons today, the Parliamentary Secretary for Science (Mr Denzil Freeth) said the Foot-And-Mouth Disease Research Institute at Pirbright, Surrey, had been authorised to make the necessary agreement with the firm.
