YOUTH'S RECORD PLAYER

(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 4. An electrical apprentice. Peter Stonyer, aged 18, of Colwill road, Massey, has constructed an apparatus which is almost the ultimate for playing recorded sounds. It took him 18 months to build and cost £2OO, much of the equipment being bought through the trade which reduced the cost. His apparatus can reproduce 80 per cent of the sound from an orchestra captured on a recording. Much of what was recorded could not be heard on standard stereo equipment, he explained today Eight speakers in two cabinets are used in his apparatus.
