BIG BEDS WANTED

Demand In Britain (N.Z.Put .-Rsuter—Copyright ) LONDON. May 1. British manufacturers are getting a big demand for huge doubte beds—nothing smaller than sft by 6ft 6in. says the "Daily Mail.” Two stores that take orders for beds from 6ft-wide by 7ft-long are doing a lot of business. One drawback is that there are only three manufacturers in Britain making blankets big enough to tuck round sft-wide mattresses and probably about five makers of sheets that cover the same area with any tuek-in. "The pattern of bed buying is changed,” said the manager of one bedding firm. "We still sell double beds to young married couples and twin beds to couples who have reached the age of discretion but now everybody seems to want divans plus harder mattresses than ever before,” he said.
