House Destroyed By Fire

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 2. A Te Kuiti businessman, Mr J. Moerua, lost all his possessions except a washing machine when his fiveroomed wooden house in Mary street was destroyed by fire yesterday. Mr Moerua was awakened during the night by the coughing of one of his children. He discovered that the house was on fire. He roused his wife and family, who escaped unharmed. On the arrival of the Te Kuiti Fire Brigade soon after 3.45 a.m., the old building was burning fiercely. A seriously-burned dog, trapped underneath, had to be destroyed.
