Boxing BIG CROWD AT FIGHT
Association Makes £3OO The Wellington Boxing Association expects to gain about £3OO from the MahoniStewart fight on Monday. An estimated attendance of 2000 people paid £l9OO at the door The winner, George Mahoni. will earn about £360 less a £25 weight forfeit, for the fight. His ' opponent, Clive Stewart, expects to receive about £345. Mahoni was on a winner’s share of the purse, while Stewart fought for a percentage of the gate, takings.
The crowd was described as the biggest at a professional fight in Wellington since the Stewart-Scanlon encounter.
