Young Public Speaker

(N.Z. Prtst Association) WELLINGTON. May I One of the youngest auccessful public speakers in New Zealand. 13-year-old Inglewood High School pupil, Russell Johnson, last night won the Wellington district final of the National Safety Association’s public speaking contest for secondary school students.

He beat 10 other contestants and is the youngest—at 13 years nine months—to have won the contest in the three year* it ha* been held. On May 17 he will meet finalists from the four other districts in the national competition.

The subject was, “Accident prevention—a moral obligation.”
