POWER BOARD EMPLOYEES
Wage Increase Agreement
Complete agreement for the working conditions of employees of electric power boards and supply authorities in the Nelson. Marlborough, Westland, and Canterbury industrial districts was achieved in Conciliation Council in Christchurch last week under the chairmanship of the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr S. W. Armstrong). The terms of the agreement will be forwarded to the Court of Arbitration as the basis for a new award. Wages increases have been agreed to for all workers. Labourers will receive an increase of 4s 2d a week, registered electricians and servicemen 15s 4d, and inspectors H.
The rate for shift work has been increased from 3s fid to 4s, and there are a number of other changes in the award conditions. The new wage rates will operate from May 1.
