APPLES FOR HONOLULU
Tray Prevents Bruising (N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, May 1. The New Zealand Apple and Pear Board's Honolulu agent, Mr M. Frates, had told him, “We’ve got the bruising problem licked,” sfaid the Hastings manager of • the board (Mr H. G. Thawley' this afternoon. Mr Thawley had j ist received a report from Mr Frates on a consignment oi apples in trays in cardboard cartons that was sent to Honolulu about three weeks ago on the Cap Corrientes. "The fruit turned out in excellent condition.” said Mr Thawley. “Our agent said that the colour was as good as or better than with the ordinary boxes.” The consignment consisted of 5000 bushels of apples. Mr Thawley said that Honolulu was a market in which the board was competing with Australia and the United States.
