TIMBER UNION SECRETARY

Mr L. Craig Retires After 21 Years (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 30. The secretary of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union, Mr L. F. Craig, has retired after holding the position for the last 21 years. In that time, he sasd. there had been no official work stoppages by members. “AU our disputes have been settled at the conference table,” he said, “and it is more than 20 years since the Court made a decision concerning our union award." Mr Craig was farewelled at a recent function by representatives of the Dominion Sawmilling Federation. Mr R. Hamilton, secretary of the South Auckland branch of the union, has become national secretary and Mr D. P. Cuneen has been elected secretary of the Auckland branch.
