KNITTING FOR CHILDREN

Cathedral Christmas Tree Knitted garments for babies and small children will be made by the Christchurch Friends of the Cathedral this year for the Cathedral Christmas tree. But the invitation to do this work had been extended beyond the Friends of the Cathedral to anyone interested. Mrs N. Stone, a member of the Friends of the Cathedral, said. Knitted or sewn garments will be welcomed, in the brighter colours (rather than the usual baby white), which native peoples love. These colours will also be more practical for the purpose. As it is not known to which parts of the world the garments will be going, they may be made in either cotton or wool. Garments may be left at the Christmas tree when it is set up nearer Christmas. Mrs Stone hopes that women's groups and groups of schoolgirls will help with this work.
