HUGE WIN ON N.Z. FILLY
Beautiful Star At Melbourne (N.Z Press Assn.—Cowrtpht) MELBOURNE. April 30 One of Victoria’s biggest professional punter* won a five-figure amount on the New Zealand-bred Beautiful Star in the Suburban Handicap at Moonee Vallsy yesterday. The punter waited until Beautiful Star drifted to 4-1 before he began to operate. Then he moved in and by the time he had finished. Beauuful Star waa 5/2 favourite. She raced away at the torn to win by two and a-half lengths from Lady Regal (4/D with Smokeview (9/2) two lengths away third. The New Zealand-bred colt Top Romanca—the 5'2 favourite overcame difficulties to win the Second AnnadaK Handicap from Victor and the pacemaker. Rib Tickler. Three furlongs from home Top Romance was squeezed between Misty Wing and Victor and lost ground. At the turn he was giving Rib .Tickler a good atari and Jack Purtell was in two mind* whether to wait for a run on the fence or go round the leaders. When he saw that Rib Tickler had raced truly roupd the turn he pulled Top Romance to the outside and the grey responded to win well. Top Romance gave Purtell a double as he had won the previous race on Wallgar The trainer. Angus Armanasco, has no ambitious plans for Top Romance, but said the colt might go to Br,sbane for the winter if he continued to improve.
