Picaroon has now won eight cups, gnd in winning on Saturday with J. T. Anderson. repeated last year’s success. Picaroon was gives; a rousing ovation on returning to the birdcage after beating Fair Filou by two lengths, with Moy third ahead qf the last Melbourne Cup winner, Hi-Jinx, fourth. The off-court* double combination was the eighth favourite Earl Kobin and the fourth favourite Beau Kura, and they returned a double dividend of £2BB 2s fid. There was a pool of £76.158. in which 11,251 tickets were invested on Earl Robin in the T 6 Mahanga Handicap and 939 tickets were reinvested on Beau Kura. The on-course double winners were Amber Lu and Ore. the combination paying £329 9s. The weather was overcast, with occasional rain. The track was heavy and there was a fair attendance.
