Presa Assn.— Copynght) SAN ANTONIO (Texas), April 28 The United States Open champion, Arnold Palmer, took over the lead at the half-way point in the Texas open golf tournament today with an eight-under-par 63 in his second round. Palmer’s 36-hole total was 130. He had six birdies and an eagle on the par-71 Oak Hills country club course. The Masters tourney champion, Gary Player (South Africa) had putting troubles for the second day in succession, and scored 69 for a 36hole score of 138. Peter Thomson (Australia) had a 74 today tor 147, and was eliminated, but the British open champion, Kel Nagle, added a 72 to his firstround 68 to stay in the last two rounds.
