MARCHER AT RUGBY

Game Of Golf Also

tNX Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 30. , Sergeant Percy Reis mana, the •‘medically unfit” recordbreaking marathon marcher, proved his worth at Rugby at Paeroa Domain today. He played as hooker for bis unit which beat a local team containing four Thames Valley representatives. 16-6 When he left a hotel for a journey with the other marchers for Papakura camp he said his feet were much better. "My feet are now perfectly okay,” he said. "Only 15 hours after I finished the march I joined the boys for a game of golf around the Paeroa Golf Club’s course.” He said the march gave him flat feet, before that they were ‘‘no flatter than normal.”

The reason for his medical unfitness classification was because he had had a chest operation 14 years ago, he said.

For completing a 100-mile “foot slog” from Runciman to Paeroa in Ihr 23min less than a reputed record for 100 miles by a British Army unit, Sergeant Retimana is the hero of his unit, the Northern Districts Construction Squadron, Royal New Zealand Engineers.
