New Zealand wos the only country now advertising mutton and lamb in Britain, said Mr David Reckitt, fft London Mr Reckitt is an associate director of Erwin Wasey. Ruthrauff and Rvan, Ltd., the firm which handles advertising and public relations in Britain for the Meat Board. The firm spends £160,000 a year on behalf of the board on television and other advertising, conducting polls and market testa and provid. ing information for butchers. “We are most concerned to help to create a more favourable balance of reward for the New Zealand producer,” said Mr Reckitt. “My company feels very strongly about the position created by the British subsidies policy under which the New Zealand producer receives only about half the price for his lamb that the British farmer gets.” This was partly brought about by handling charges, shipping and freezing, he said.
Mr Reckitt has been in New Zealand for five weeks “meeting the people I work for.”
