CONSPIRACY CHARGES
Men Arrested On Schooner (NX. Pres* Assn. —Copyright) BRISBANE. April 27. Two men arrested aboard a schooner last night apipeared in the Brisbane Police (Court today on charges involving the North American Vending Company Pty, Ltd. They were charged on a warrant which said there was i a “probable presumption” that they did not intend to answer conspiracy charges in Melbourne. The men are John Joseph Mohr, aged 32, salesman, of Melbourne, and Zdanck Kempny, aged 21, salesman, of Brisbane. The Magistrate. Mr Mansell, remanded them to next Tuesday. Mr G. Ruddy, counsel for the two men. did not ask for bail, and Mohr and Kempny were remanded in custody.
The warrant said the two men were admitted to bail in Melbourne. Mohr on March 9 and Kempny on February 28. to appear at the Court of Petty Sessions in Melbourne on May 8 to answer charges of conspiracy with intent to defraud the public. The warrant said: “There were facts which raised a probable presumption that it was the Intention of Kempny and Mohr not to surrender 'nemselves in accordance with the condition of the bail entered into by them.” Mr Ruddy aaid his brief instructions were that the charge against his clients were not properly founded. Detective-Sergeant J. Voigt told the Court that at 10.45 last night he was aboard a police patrol launch. He and other detectives saw Kempny and Mohr aboard the i schooner Sea Wolf at the mouth of the Brisbane river. Both admitted they were to appear in Melbourne on a conspiracy charge, and he arrested them under a provisional warrant
