Transport Regulations

Sir.—l am under the impression that there are certain transport regulations limiting the operations of private transport, and was intrigued this morning to see a large truck in Bealey avenue belonging to the Apple and Pear Board, Dunedin, loaded with fruit cases. No doubt there is some explanation for this truck, licensed in Dunedin, being on the Christchurch streets, but it would be interesting to know what it is.—Yours, etc., PRIVATE ENTERPRISE. April 19, 1961. (The secretary of the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board (Mr H. N. Whitcombe) said: "The branch at Riccarton is at present using the truck from its Dunedin branch. The arrangement is temporary and does not warrant the changing of name from Dunedin to Christchurch.”]
