MR LAKE IN AUCKLAND

Development A ‘Real Eye-Opener’ (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 38. The Minister of Finance (Mr Lake) said today that he was strongly in favour of the idea of a regional authority for Auckland. “It is an excellent approach to Auckland's problems of growth,” he said after a motor tour of the metropolitan area. "Some authority of the sort proposed is the only logical solution to the situation in which Auckland finds itself." he said. Mr Lake said it would effect savings by co-ordinat-ing planning. Mr Lake said the rate of Auckland's development has been a “real eye opener.”
