Maori Jury In Murder Trial
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 28. An all-Maori jury is to be called to hear a murder trial in the Supreme Court at Auckland next month. A panel of 65 Maoris has been selected to appear before the trial of Roy Raimata Rau, aged 19. a workman. who is alleged to have murdered his wife. Rauhina Mihi Rau. by stabbing at Auckland on April 8. The trial is set down for Monday, May 22. Rau's counsel (Mr P. A. Williams! has applied, under section 144 of the Juries’ Act. 1908, for the hearing of the trial before an all-Maori jury.
