HURUNUI SEAT
Delay To Issue Of Writ (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. April 28. It is unlikely that a writ calling for a by-election in the Hurunui seat will be issued before next Friday. A notice formally notifying the death of Mr W H Gillespie did not appear in last night's Gazette, and this must be done before steps are taken for a by-election There is no intention to issue a special Gazette notice of Mr Gillespie’s death, which means that this will not appear until the publication of the Gazette next Thursday. A warrant will then be issued to the Clerk of Writs (Mr J. V. Meech) to issue the writ for the by-elec-tion.
Communications With Algeria.—The acting-Chief Postmaster (Mr J. W. Lincoln) said yesterday that advice had been received that all telegrams to and from Algeria were subject to delay, and that telephone service was available for Government and newspaper calls only.
