HUMAN LEG MYSTERY
Police Report To Coroner (IV Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 28. No positive identification has been made of the human leg which was found near the Waikato river mouth; last August. But detectives believe that' the leg came from the body of Mrs Cynthia GriersonJackson. who disappeared from Auckland about April 24 last year. A report of their inquiries has been referred to the acting City Coroner (Mr A. A. Coates. S.M) who said tonight that he was considering the report to decide whether an application should be made to the At-torney-General (Mr Hanan) for a direction as to whether an inquest should be held on the leg.
Detective Inspector W. S. Craigie. of the Auckland Criminal Investigation Branch, said he ■ had “good reason” to believe that the leg came from the body of Mrs Grierson-Jackson.
But it was unlikely, even if positive proof was obtained, that any people would be arrested in connexion with her disappearance.
Early in May last year, the missing woman's husband. Michael William Grier-son-Jackson, aged 39. a helicopter pilot, was found dead in a rooming house in Auckland. The inquest into his death has not been completed. Detectives investigating his death were unable to trace Mrs Grierson-Jackson, but it was not until three months later, on the finding of the leg. that great significance was attached to her disappearance.
