The Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren) will visit Timaru during the week-end to attend the centenary celebrations of St. Mary’s Church of England, Timaru. Dr. L. J. Cooney, of Auckland, will be declared president of the New Zealand Rugby League Council when officers are elected today. His nomination is the oniv one received. Mr J. W. w'atson. president of the council for the last eight years, is not seeking re-election—(P.A.)

Two producers’ representatives on the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board will retire in August in accordance with the provisions of the Meat Export Control Act. They are Sir Walter Mulholland. of Darfleld. and Mr F C. Johnstone, of Frankton Junction. Mr Johnstone will offer himself for re-election. Mr D. Bowie has been appointed a member of the National Parks Authority. He replaces Mr A. M. Jones, who died recently. Mr R. W. G. McDonald has been appointed a member of the Ashburton Gorge Rabbit Board. He replaces Mr C A. A. Chinnery. who has resigned. Mr R. T. Henderson was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand by Mr Justice Macarthur yesterday, on the motion of Mr N. P Williamson. Mr W. C. Thomson was admitted as a solicitor. on the motion of Mr K J. Thwaites. Mr C. H Jones has replaced Mr E. F. Wilde as the representative of the Canterbury Education Board on the Board of Governors of the Linwood High School. Mr Wilde resigned recently. Mr Jones was previously the parents’ representative on the board.

Mr J. Mazey has been appointed chief ranger of the Tongariro National Park Board. Mr Mazey. who is at present employed by the North Canterbury Hospital Board, will succeed Mr J. A. Peters. He will take up his duties at the end of June.— (F.0.0R.)
