PAPANUI HIGH SCHOOL
Pupil Selection System The policy of selection of new pupils at the Papanui High School for the coming year will remain basically the same as that approved by the school board and carried out last year. This was agreed by the board at its annual meeting yesterday, afternoon.
The basis of selection would again give preference to applicants attending primary schools in the contributing area, with first preference to those living nearest the high school, agreed the board. Second preference would be given to applicants who were brothers or sisters of present or past pupils of the school, and third preference to the children of former pupils, with the proviso that other things were equal. A subsidy of £3480 towards the new gymnasium at present under construction at the school would be granted by the Department of Education, said a letter from the department.
Officers elected were:— Chairman. Mr R. C. Chilvers: vice-chairman. Dr. C. D. Ellyett: board’s representative on Post-primary Schools’ Council. Dr. Ellyett: appointments committee. Dr. Ellyett.
